About Us
We are Robert and Tere Gresl, owners of Casa La Pura Vida. This journey began as a dream we had in 2015. We loved coming to Baja California and spent many weekends and more here to escape the daily work and life in fast paced Los Angeles/Orange County. Our trips would often start out spontaneously as we would drive to Ensenada in the early morning hours watching the sun break over the mountainous landscape. We would enjoy our time trinket shopping, sipping margaritas and eating chips and salsa before we would head back north toward Rosarito Beach, sometime stopping along the way for a nice lobster lunch in Puerto Nuevo. Rosarito became a peaceful retreat for us, typically staying at the iconic Rosarito Beach Hotel where we would enjoy the beautiful views overlooking the Pacific Ocean. We had many favorite restaurants and bars in Rosarito Beach that we would frequent to enjoy the traditional food and, of course, the margaritas. We often dreamed and spoke about having our own place on or near the beach here where we could relax and potentially retire to, ideally to supplement our retirement income. A beach bar and grill was often discussed, picturing lazy days (and nights) pouring exotic drinks and serving tacos to all our patrons.
Construction at Casa La Pura Vida is expected to be complete by December of 2024, and a soft opening of the Bed and Breakfast will be planned following completion. We are open on a limited basis at the moment and have 5 rooms listed on Airbnb at this time. We are super excited for the forthcoming opening and are happy to invite everyone to come and visit us at Casa La Pura Vida!
This idea was eventually dismissed when my wife pointed out that both of us are early morning people, and the typically long days and nights required to manage and operate a bar and grill was not going to be something to retire to. A Bed and Breakfast inn was another idea that was being discussed. Other than the routine daily activities of breakfast preparation and room cleaning/change over, we would have the remainder of the day to enjoy our time doing what retired people do, or at least we hopedWe began looking for houses, lots, anywhere where we could purchase to begin this journey. From Puerto Nuevo to North Rosarito we viewed many properties, calling agents and searching for that all important corner stone of our future. We continued our search, eventually coming upon our location now. We called the agent and were shown the 800 square meter lot with a cozy 2-bedroom cottage. While discussing if this would work for our plans, we decided to move forward with an offer. The DREAM was born.
